We are posting this to inform everyone that this morning we flipped our van and trailer en route to Portland, Oregon. Everyone in the band is uninjured but our van and trailer and some gear is totaled. LIONIZE will not be performing tonight in Portland or Seattle tomorrow. We will be in Salt Lake City trying to put things in order so we will be performing at that show, but will not be in Minneapolis, Denver, Chicago and Pontiac. Lionize will join back up with the tour with Streetlight Manifesto in Providence, RI at Lupos on November 23rd.

Eclectic heavy rockers Lionize mix elements of Seventies groove-laden rock and reggae throughout their latest album, “Superczar and the Vulture,” at times in one song.
“We all share some similar influences, from rock and reggae to funk, blues and jazz,” said drummer Mel Randolph. “Over the years we’ve combined all of them and gotten a lot more diverse. ”
Lionize, which formed in 2004, has evolved over the course of five albums from its start as a reggae band to a group that incorporates a mixture of styles. The Washington D.C. quartet performs on Friday at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, Oct. 19 at the Atlantic City House of Blues and on Nov. 23 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville.

In 2008, musical quartet LIONIZE traveled from their home base in Silver Spring to Kingston, Jamaica, to record a full-length album called “Space Pop and the Glass Machine.”
The guys are all big fans of the UK-based reggae band Steel Pulse, said LIONIZE keyboardist Chris Brooks, in a recent phone interview from the band’s practice location in College Park.
Washington, DC quartet LIONIZE are pleased to announce that they will be spending this fall on tour with Streetlight Manifesto, as well as playing select dates with Maryland rockers CLUTCH. The first leg of the tour kicks off October 16th in Toronto and runs through October 28th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Following those dates LIONIZE will join up with CLUTCH for a string of shows kicking off Halloween night in Flint, MI and wrapping up on November 4th in Detroit, MI. After a short break the band will return to the road with Streetlight Manifesto on November 13th in Portland, OR through December 7th in Sacramento, CA. A complete list of dates can be found below.

From being the first band to play both Bonnaroo and the Vans Warped Tour in the same year to their five full-length albums to virtually non-stop touring year after year, the groove-heavy rock group has dared to do more than most bands could ever hope to accomplish. On the release of their most recent album, Superczar and the Vulture, produced by the famed J. Robbins and their first on Pentimento Music Company, the band showcases their live sound in a way that they have never done before, allowing the listener an unprecedented look at the experience of hearing the songs played live in front of them.
